Courtyards, balconies and patio corners are hemmed in on two sides, which is exactly why a four-corner sail is hard to fit. There is a wall, a post, maybe a fence rail — and no fourth point without building one. Meanwhile the paving throws heat back up and the best-positioned part of the yard sits empty all summer.
A triangle spans the three points you already have. Stretched between a wall plate, a post and a corner bracket, it puts shade over the seating area with a fall built into the geometry rather than negotiated across four heights. The white finish keeps the light under it open and bright, and the 70 mm mesh lets warm air rise straight through instead of pooling under a sealed panel.
Small outdoor spaces get written off because the obvious cover does not fit them. A triangle works with the anchor points a courtyard, balcony or patio corner already has.

The shape solves a fixing problem and the colour solves a light problem. In a small enclosed space, both matter more than raw square metres of cover.
Three points always define a flat plane, so a triangle tensions true without twisting. A four-corner sail on anchors at mismatched heights will always want to bag out somewhere.
Set one corner lower than the other two and the run-off angle is done. No hunting for a compromise slope across four different fixing heights.

Three corners is the easiest configuration to fit single-handed. Fixing hardware and tensioners are not included — buy them to suit your anchor points.
Measure each of the three distances between your fixing points, then take 30 to 40 cm off every corner for the strap and turnbuckle. The size you want is the one sitting just under those figures.
Wall plates into masonry or a stud, posts concreted into the ground, rafters rather than fascia or gutter. Do not hang a tensioned sail off a pergola batten that was only ever screwed on for looks.
Attach the 40 cm strap at each of the three corners and pull the slack out by hand before touching a tensioner, so you can see how the net wants to sit.
Bring one corner noticeably lower than the other two, then tension evenly at all three until the mesh is flat and the rope edges pull straight rather than scalloped.
Sizes are given as the three edge lengths of the net. Match them to the span between your anchor points, not to the floor area you would like covered.
